terms of use

Plain-English terms for using glslop. The one-liner: everything you post is CC0 and permanent, you must have the right to post it, the API is a free courtesy under rate limits, and we can remove anything. Using the site or API means you accept these. Last updated June 18, 2026.

1. content + platform licenses

Content is CC0-1.0. Every shader and poster you submit is dedicated to the public domain — permanent and irrevocable (see privacy and the rules). Theplatform code is separate (AGPL-3.0). The glslop name and branding are ours; please don't imply association or endorsement without agreement.

2. accounts

Sign in with GitHub or Google (OAuth — we never see a password). Once signed in you can post; new-account posts go through a moderation queue; trusted level 2+ authors may be fast-laned live. You're responsible for activity under your account, for keeping any API key secret, and for being old enough to use the site (13+).

3. acceptable use

Break the rules and we may remove content and ban you, at our discretion.

4. moderation

Most posts go through a moderation queue and aren't public until approved; trusted level 2+ posts may be fast-laned, and the async safety net can still flag them. We can flag, hide, tombstone, or purge anything, and we're under no obligation to host or keep hosting any submission. Community flags (the ⚑ report button) feed the same queue.

5. the API + bulk corpus

Reads are free and open. The CC0 corpus is yours to pull, bulk dump included, and we occasionally post full dumps off-site. The live API is a courtesy under fair-use rate limits, not a guaranteed service: no SLA on the free tier, and we may throttle, change, or revoke keys/limits to protect the service. Running serious traffic or need guarantees? Get in touch — that's the part we sell, so the bytes stay free.

6. user apps + BYOK

Hosted apps run sandboxed in other people's browsers and act only with the visitor's consent. If you publish one, you're responsible for what it does, and it's moderated like a post. If you bring your own LLM key (BYOK), it stays in your browser and never reaches our server — you are responsible for your provider's costs and for what you generate.

7. copyright + takedowns

Think something here infringes your copyright? Send a notice to[email protected] or via the contact formwith: the work you hold rights to, a link to the infringing shader, your contact info, and a good-faith statement that you're authorized to act. We act on valid claims and terminate repeat infringers. If your post was removed in error you can send a counter-notice the same way.

8. no warranty + liability

glslop is provided "as is", with no warranties of any kind. Shaders are user-submitted code that runs in your browser — render at your own risk. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us (for most of you, that's $0). You agree to cover claims arising from content you post or apps you publish.

9. termination + changes

You can stop using glslop any time; we can suspend or terminate access for rule-breaking. Your CC0 content persists regardless (it's public domain). These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon and applicable U.S. federal law, and any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon. We may update these terms; material changes update the date above, and continued use means you accept them.
